Joining is simple. Just fill out an Order of Battle for your Crusade Force, and contact the Campaign Master. Introduce yourself and your crusade force, and say which side you wish to join in the conflict. How to do this is explained on the Sign Up page.
On the day the Campaign starts the Campaign Master will be at Outland to offer help in setting up a Crusade Force and explain rules.
The plan is for the Campaign to last for 6 weeks with each week being a turn on the campaign map. Each week is split up into three phases: The Strategy Phase, The Battle Phase, and The Aftermath Phase.
In the Strategy Phase each player strategizes with the other players of their Coalition and give orders for their Marching Tokens by messaging them to the Campaign Master. Each Marching token has 8 action points which can be spent in the following ways.
They can March (1 AP) to an adjacent tile.
They can Claim (1 AP) the tile they are on.
They can Interact (1 AP) with the tile they're on. For a special effect depending on the tile.
They can Fortify (6 AP) a claimed tile they are on, turning it into a Bastion Tile.
Each Coalition also has special a special Marching Action.
This is the phase players can play the crusade missions on the tabletop, representing conflicts where marching tokens moved onto a hostile claimed tile, or crossed paths with another marching token. Pick a Conflict that involves your coalition and find a player in the opposing coalition. Schedule a game, play a crusade mission, and report back to the Campaign Master before the deadline (note that the victor may be able to give their marching token an additional action, as described in the Resolve Conflict step of the mission sequence). Once you've reported to the Campaign Master, you can schedule another game if you have time and can find another player.
If you are unable to schedule a game for any reason, you have some options. See the Unable to Play section in the PDF.
In this phase the Campaign Master sorts through all the reports from players, resolve all remaining conflicts by roll-off, and updates the map for the start of the next Strategy Phase.
