The Coalitions

To simplify matters, and to allow players that otherwise would be playing alone to collaborate towards a common goal, most factions have been grouped together into larger factions called Coalitions. Each Coalition will have their own objective to accomplish in this campaign and their own methods of achieving this goal. Each Coalition has a unique action their Marching Token can take on their turn.

The Imperium of Mankind

The united forces of The Imperium of Mankind are for once working together to regain another lost primarch, once lost in the Webway. All the astropaths on the planet have at once started repeating a cryptic prophecy of Jaghatai Khan's return. It is up to the Imperium to decipher the prophecy, find the landmarks it refers to, and help the Primarch back into the Galaxy.

White Scars. Due to this Campaign's focus on the White Scars' primarch, White Scars and their successor chapters has a slightly increased focus. If at least one player in this Coalition plays with such an army, a fraction of this Coalition's Marching Tokens will be White Scar tokens. They have a unique Base of Operations and Coalition Action, separate from the rest of the Coalition.

Base of Operations

The Base of Operations for the Imperium of Mankind on Corusil V is Fortress Butsakh (Tile I-13.5, south-east corner of the map). Named after the keshig by the same name who led the conquest of this planet, ensuring it would be ready for Jaghatai Khan's return. His visage has been immortalized in a great terminator-clad statue atop the main keep, pointing to the steppes of Corusil V.

White Scars. White Scars Marching Tokens will instead start at a random unclaimed Bastion Tile on the Steppes. That Bastion automatically becomes claimed by this Coalition

Goal

The goal of the Imperium of Mankind is to locate the lost primarch of the White Scars, Jaghatai Khan.

This is accomplished by simply interacting with the tile the Primarch is on and bringing him to a Bastion tile claimed by this Coalition. To limit the search area, you can look for clues in the Prophecy and interact with the tiles they lead you to for further clues.

Coalition Action

Marching Tokens of the Imperium of Mankind gain access to the following Marching Action:

Purge (1 AP) While this token is on a Space Port, Manufactorum, Power Station or Hive City tile that was previously claimed by another coalition it can purge that tile. That tile is removed from the map and replaced with a normal tile of the same biome. One Order of Battle in this coalition gains one Requisition Point.

This action can be performed as an Aftermath Action.

White Scars: Ride (1 AP) This token moves 2 tiles in a straight line. 3 tiles if all three tiles are Steppes.

The Cults of Chaos

Naturally, heretics and those loyal to the dark gods cares not for the return of yet another loyalist primarch. Still, the method of his return presents an opportunity. By completing a series of rituals, they will be able to plunge Corusil V into the warp, including all the other forces, and the great Khan himself. But they must be careful, lest they reveal the Khan's location to those who wish to find him.

Base of Operations

The Cults of Chaos has established a Base of Operations in the volcanic regions surrounding Mt. Malleator (Tile I-1.5, south-west corner of the map). It has become a great forge for daemon engines and home of arcane arts.

Goal

The goal of the Cults of Chaos is to prevent the primarch's return by manipulating the surging warp energies and plunging all of Corusil V into the warp.

This is accomplished by first doing two blood rituals. Perform the Ritual action on two different Hive City Tiles.

This will expose the planet's lay lines on the map and replace the hive city tiles with normal tiles. Extending imaginary lines from these ley lines would cause several of them to intersect. Three of them will intersect on the tile foretold in the Prophecy and you will be told which ones (keep this secret from the other coalitions to prevent them from accomplishing their goals before you're ready). You must then charge each of those three ley lines by performing the Ritual action on a tile where the corresponding ley line is visible. You're encouraged to waylay any suspicions of the Primarch's true location by doing the Ritual action on unrelated ley lines.

You must then perform the Ritual action on the Primarch's tile to cast the planet into the warp, and doom all opposing Coalitions, including the Khan of Khans.

Coalition Action

Marching Tokens of the Cults of Chaos gain access to the following Marching Action:

Ritual (1 AP) On its own this action does nothing, except fulfilling the criteria of this Coalition's Goal (see above).

This action can be performed as an Aftermath Action.

The Xenos Alliance

The foul xenos have spun a network of alliances. The Drukhari once held the primarch captive before he escaped and wish to catch him again. Aeldari foresee a grave threat with the primarch's return and have agreed to aid and petitioned the T'au and Votann to join the alliance. The naïve T'au Empire is eager to prove the benefits of working together for the greater good, and the Leagues of Votann have an old grudge to settle that has festered since the Great Khans disappearance.

Base of Operations

The Xenos Alliance have coalesced and formed a Base of Operations at Arc K'vuo (Tile A-13.5, north-east corner of the map), an ancient Webway nexus only recently revealed from where it was buried. An unwelcome surprise for the White Scars who had already conquered the planet.

Goal

The goal of the Xenos Alliance is to recapture the Great Khan and prevent the Imperium from regaining any more of its lost strength.

This is accomplished by simply interacting with the tile the Primarch is on and bring him to a Bastion tile claimed by this Coalition. To limit the search area, you can look for clues in the Prophecy and interact with the tiles they lead you to for further clues.

Coalition Action

Marching Tokens of the Xenos Alliance gain access to the following Marching Action:

Outmanuvre (3 AP) This token instantly moves 2 tiles without occupying the intervening tile.

The Forces of Destruction

The remaining factions. A hive fleet has decided that this world is fit for acquiring biomass, and genestealer cults have emerged from the shadows to ensure this happens. Unbeknownst to everyone Corusil V is a tomb world, and the awaking Necron are eager for everyone to get off their lawn. And naturally, the Orks know a good fight when they see one.

Of course, these factions will only play a role if a player bring them to the tabletop, but they are loosely grouped together by the goal of just wanting to fight, get rid of everyone else, and/or claim the planet for themselves. Aside from scoring their objective collectively these three factions are treated as separate Coalitions with separate starting locations and may come into conflict with each other.

Base of Operations

Necrons: Necrons have emerged from one of the catacombs on the planet, but the rest have failed and must be awakened manually. Necrons begin next to a random Catacomb, which becomes claimed automatically. Catacombs count as Bastions when claimed by Necrons.

Orks: The Orks have established a camp around Rivit Basha's workshop (Tile D-8, northern desert).

Tyranids: The tyranids have amassed around an area designated Reclamation Pool Theta (Tile A-1.5, north-west corner of the map), and have begun planetary consumption, spreading outwards.

Goal

The goal of the Forces of Destruction is to collectively claim more than half (at least 52) of the tiles on the map before anyone else complete their goal. Then the winner is whoever of the factions in the Forces of Destruction that has claimed the most tiles.

Coalition Action

Marching Tokens of the Forces of Destruction gain access to the following Marching Action:

Necrons: Awake (1 AP) This Marching Token awakens a Necron-Claimed Tomb Tile it is on, that has not been awoken yet. All adjacent unclaimed tiles become claimed by the Necrons.

This action can be performed as an Aftermath Action.

Orks: Get In There (3 AP) This Marching Token is instantly moved to the closest Marching Token or Claimed tile, including other Ork Tokens or Tiles. If multiple targets are equidistant, one is randomly determined.

Tyranids: Devour (1 AP) If this token is on a Tyranid-Claimed Tile, it can instantly claim two adjacent unclaimed tiles. All three tiles become Infested Biome Tiles.

This action can be performed as an Aftermath Action.
